Prof. Bhabani P. Sinha

Bhabani P. Sinha joined the faculty of Electronics Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta in 1976, where he became a Professor in 1987. He served as the Head of the Advanced Computing and Microelectronics Unit during 1993-2010. He was the Dean of Studies of ISI during 2010-12. He was an Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chair Professor in IIT Kharagpur during 2000. He was an Alexander von Humboldt fellow of Germany. He received many awards and honours in recognition of his excellent academic performance and outstanding research contributions, the most notable of which include: i) M.K. Singal Memorial award from the Indian Science Congress Association in 2012 (handed over by the Hon’ble Prime Minister), for his significant and lifetime contributions to the development of science and technology, ii) Homi Bhaba award of the University Grants Commission, India (1998) for his outstanding contributions to applied sciences, iii) Ram Lal Wadha Medal from the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India for outstanding original contribution in the field of electronics and telecommunication engineering during the last ten years (2012), iv) Faculty Excellence award of Clemson University, USA (2002), and v) Eminent Engineer award from the Institute of Engineers, India (2008). Prof. Sinha is a Fellow of the IEEE, USA and also a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Sciences, India, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology. His research interests include computer architecture, algorithms, parallel and distributed computing, mobile communication, and wireless networks.

Dr. Debasis Mazumdar Joined Sister Nivedita University on Feb. 2023 as the Senior Professor of the Department of Computer Science after his superannuation from CDAC Kolkata as the Director of the center. Prof. Debasis Mazumdar is an active researcher in the area of Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning and cognitive science. He has significant contributions in the area of bio-plausible algorithms and information geometry with applications in computer vision. During his 30 years of professional career, he published 8 scientific papers in journals and 20 papers in international conferences of high impact factor. He is also co-author of a book chapter entitled Facial Expressions: A Cross-Cultural Study, published through Advances in Emotion Recognition, John Wiley & Sons Publication. In his working years at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Govt. of. India he received the prestigious Director General R&D Awards twice for his significant contributions to technology development. Besides he is endowed with 4 national and one US patent and was editor of two proceedings of international conferences (PERMIN) published through Springer and ACM. He also received a UNDP fellowship and worked as a visiting scientist at the University of Bremen, FRG, being awarded with Japan Science and Technology fellowship (JST) he worked as a visiting scientist at NICT Japan and Kyoto University Japan. He also visited Monash University, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, University of Florida and Steven Institute of Technology, USA, Queen’s University, Belfast, U.K. He served as the Director of CDAC Kolkata. Dr. ANIRBAN MITRA

Dr. Anirban Mitra received his Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Computer Science in 2005. He completed his Master of Science in Computer Science (2007) and Master of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering (2009) from the University of Calcutta, India. In 2021, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) for his research in Medical Image Processing, with his thesis titled “Glaucoma Analysis & Detection from Retinal Images.” Currently, Dr. Mitra serves as the Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science, Sister Nivedita University. From 2009 to 2021, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the Academy of Technology. His research interests include Medical Image Processing, Geometric Algebra, Cryptography, and IoT. He has published numerous conference and journal papers under IEEE, ELSEVIER, SPRINGER, and other reputed proceedings in the fields of Image Processing, Video Processing, and Clifford Algebra. Additionally, he holds multiple patent designs. Under his supervision, the project "A Secured Child Care System Using RFID in IoT" (Project ID: DUG2017031), funded by IEI (2017–2018), was successfully completed. Dr. Mitra has played a pivotal role in organizing prestigious academic conferences and workshops. He served as the Convener of the IEEE Third International Conference on Computer, Communication, Control, and Information Technology (C3IT-2015), Joint Convener of FOSET 2023, Web Chair of COMSYS 2023, and Publicity Chair of COMSYS 2023. 

He has received several prestigious accolades, including: 

• Dynamic Educator of the Year 2022, awarded by Nikhil Bharat Shiksha Parisad. 
• Mentor for Smart India Hackathon 2018, awarded by AICTE. 
• Expert for Smart India Hackathon 2022, awarded by AICTE.

Short Biography

Dr. Saikat Maity, currently associated with Sister Nivedita University, has over 25 years of experience in academia and administration. Formerly Program Director at TransStadia Education and Research Foundation, Ahmedabad, he also served as Professor and Head of CSE at JIS University. He holds a B.Tech from Kalyani University, M.Tech from Calcutta University, and a Ph.D. from IIEST, Howrah. His expertise lies in Software Engineering best practices and Artificial Intelligence, with research interests in networking, soft computing, and image processing. Dr. Maity has led AICTE, UGC, and NBA accreditation processes and championed IIC and incubation initiatives. He manages the PARAM SHAVAK supercomputer and contributes to projects like Onama, CHReME, and Ganglia. A member of JIS University’s Academic Council, he also heads digital learning initiatives. He is a CCNA professional, Fellow of IE, and Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE SMC, along with being a life member of ISTE, CSI, ICS, and a member of ACM.

Dr. Rana Majumdar

Dr. Rana Majumdar is a distinguished academician and researcher, currently serving as a Professor at Sister Nivedita University under the Techno India Group, Kolkata. He has an extensive record of research contributions, with numerous publications indexed in SCI, SCIE, ESCI, SCOPUS, and SJR-indexed databases. He is also the author of several books, including Accessing WLAN, Data Structure, and Cybersecurity—the latter two published by HSRA Publications.

Dr. Majumdar has been awarded twenty patents and one copyright for his innovative work. He has actively edited multiple conference proceedings, with three edited volumes currently in press, and has co-edited four additional book volumes. His research expertise spans digital image and video processing, computer vision, software reliability engineering, and data analytics.

A proactive contributor to academic and professional communities, Dr. Majumdar is associated with organizations such as IET, IAENG, SREQAM, and ISTE. He is a Senior Member of SREQAM and has held leadership roles, including Chair of the IET Young Professional Affinity Group and Coordinator of the IET Student Chapter (2016–2017). He has chaired or co-chaired over 30 international conferences, both in India and abroad.

He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Scientific Technology (IJEAST) and is on the editorial board of several journals under InderScience Publishers.

Dr. Majumdar’s academic contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including:

Dr. Swarup Kr Ghosh is presently working as an Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Sister Nivedita University, Kolkata. He received the Ph.D. from MAKAUT in 2023. Dr. Ghosh also received a Master of Technology from the University of Calcutta. His teaching experience comprises 12 years and 13 years in research. He has published more than 40 research articles in various reputed journals (SCI/SCIE/ESCI) and conference proceedings. Four Indian patents have been granted. He is an expert in programming and Data Structure, Design and analysis of algorithms, Theory of computation, Database Management System, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. He is also a reviewer for some reputed journals like IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, Springer, etc. His research interests include Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Medical Imaging, Machine Learning, Data Science, NLP, and Soft Computing. Dr. Asmita Roy holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and an M.Tech from MAKAUT, West Bengal, where she earned the Silver Medal for academic excellence. She received the prestigious TEQIP scholarship, supported by the Government of India and the World Bank, to pursue her Ph.D. from the same university. During her doctoral studies, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering for three years and contributed to a Network Security project under ISEA Phase–II, funded by MeitY. Dr. Roy has taught in several university-affiliated colleges, gaining broad teaching experience. Short Biography

Dr. Sadip Midya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Sister Nivedita University (SNU), Kolkata. He earned his M.Sc. in Computer Science from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, followed by an M.Tech and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from MAKAUT. Between 2017 and 2021, he worked as a Research Assistant under the Government of India’s TEQIP initiative. At SNU, Dr. Midya actively contributes to teaching, research, and academic growth. His research focuses on Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs), Internet of Vehicles (IoV), and Vehicular Clouds. With over 30 publications in respected international journals and conferences, his work on VANET earned a minor project grant from TEQIP, during his PhD. He also launched and continues to manages the departmental technical magazine “Bits N Bytes” at SNU, playing a vital role in institutional advancement and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in emerging technologies.

He has more than a decade of research experience as a research scholar in various Computer Science domains. Soma Hazra has joined Sister Nivedita University in September, 2022 as Assistant Professor in the department of Computer Science and Application. She completed her B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering under WBUT. After that, she completed her Master of Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2013. She has also qualified UGC-NET and WBSET examinations. She has more than 7 years of teaching experience as assistant professor in various engineering colleges. Arkaprava Bhaduri Mandal is an academician and researcher in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology from Nagpur University, where he gained a solid foundation in the fundamental concepts of computer science. Driven by his passion for advancing his knowledge and expertise, he pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from BPUT, Orissa, further honing his skills in the field.

Arkaprava received his Ph.D. in the domain of Multimedia Forensics from NIT, Raipur, where his doctoral research focused on the application of multimedia analysis techniques for forensic investigations. His work aims to develop innovative methodologies to extract and analyze digital evidence from various multimedia sources, advancing the field of digital forensics.

Throughout his academic journey, Arkaprava has published several research papers in reputed international journals and conferences. His professional experience spans over a decade, encompassing both teaching and research roles. Dr. Shuvajit Roy obtained his M.Tech degree in Photonics and Nanoelectronics from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, Calcutta University, in 2018 (First class). He joined IIT Kharagpur at the Department of E & EC as a full-time PhD Scholar in 2019. His research interests include integrated nanophotonics, tunable metasurfaces using 2D materials, novel optical phenomena on metasurfaces, etc. He submitted his PhD thesis in 2023 and successfully defended it with an Excellent grade in 2024. His research has been published in top-tier journals like IEEE Sensors, ACS Applied Nanomaterials, Optics Communications, etc. His research has also been selected for presentation at premier international conferences in photonics, like CLEO 23 and FIO 22. He is also serving as the reviewer of the Elsevier (Optical Materials, Optics Communications) and MDPI group of journals. He joined the ECE department at SNU as an Assistant Professor in Aug 2023.

Dr. Sayantani Sen

Prior to that, Dr. Sen obtained her M. Tech. and B. Tech. degrees from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, and her B. Sc. Degree in Physics from Scottish Church College, University of

Calcutta. She held a first class in B. Sc., and was the university topper in B. Tech. She was a CSIR fellow and she has also worked on a number of research projects funded by the Government of India.
