WBJEE 2026: Results are Out? Let's Get into the Next Steps!

Here is the part many students do not fully understand, but it is one of the most important stages.

Counselling-

Counselling is where you choose your colleges and preferred branches based on your rank.

The process generally includes:

1. Registration for Counselling

The first step is to register on the official WBJEE counselling portal using your application details. You will need to complete the registration and pay the counselling fee (?500) to participate in the seat allotment process.

2. Choice Filling (Selecting Colleges & Courses)

This is one of the most important steps. You have to create a list of colleges and branches (courses) you would like to study in.

Do not just choose colleges based on popularity or because your friends are applying there. The better you plan your choices, the better your chances of getting a seat that suits you.

3. Choice Locking

Once you have finalized your list, you will have to lock your choices before the deadline. After locking, you will not be able to make any changes, so review everything carefully before submitting.

4. Seat Allotment

Based on your WBJEE rank, preferences, and seat availability, you will be allotted a college and course.

To accept the allotted seat, you will need to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee of ?5,000. Once the fee is paid, you can move ahead with document verification and the admission process. Depending on the counselling rules, you may also be eligible for seat upgradation in the next round.

5. Document Verification

Before your admission is confirmed, you will need to verify your documents. This ensures that all the information provided during your application is accurate and authentic.

Documents commonly required include:

WBJEE Rank Card

WBJEE Admit Card

Class 10 Admit Card or Birth Certificate (for proof of age)

Class 10 Mark Sheet/Certificate

Class 12 Mark Sheet/Certificate

School Leaving/Transfer Certificate (if required by the institution)

Character Certificate (if required)

Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/EWS), if applicable

PwD Certificate, if applicable

Domicile Certificate (where applicable)

Passport-size photographs

Valid Government-issued Photo ID (such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, or Voter ID)

Seat Allotment Letter

Counselling Fee Payment Receipt

Note: The exact list of required documents may vary depending on the counselling authority and the institution. Always check the latest counselling guidelines before attending document verification.

6. Admission Confirmation

Once your documents are verified and the required admission fee is paid, your seat is officially confirmed.

Congratulations! You are now ready to begin your journey at your chosen university.

Your rank matters, yes,

But so do your choices.

A well-planned preference list can make a huge difference.

Ask yourself:

  • Does the course match my interests?
  • What kind of placements does the university offer?
  • Will I get industry exposure?
  • Are there internships and real projects?
  • What is campus life like?
  • Does the university support students beyond academics?

Remember, you are choosing the place where you will spend the next four years building your future. Best to choose wisely, right?
